The ATP Finals groups were released earlier today. With Djokovic and Alcaraz assured of landing in different groups, the only intrigue really was where No. 4 Jannik Sinner would end up, and the Italian will make his debut in the Green Group with Djokovic, former champion Stefanos Tsitsipas and debutant Holger Rune.
Alcaraz was placed with former winners Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev plus Andrey Rublev.
Alcaraz will have to go undefeated (5-0) to have a chance at finishing the year No. 1. All Djokovic has to do is win one match and the year-end top spot is his for a record-extending 8th time.
Djokovic is also trying to break the tie he and Roger Federer share with six career ATP Finals titles.
The tournament begins on Sunday.
