Top seed Iga Swiatek rolled in second round action cruising past Spain’s Sara Sorribes Tormo 6-2, 6-0 winning the last eight games on the match.

Swiatek, who lost just four points on serve, has now won her last nine in Grand Slam play and has lost just six games in two matches.

“I was able to kind of do everything tactically as I wanted to, as my coach wanted me to do, on first and second round,” Swiatek said after. “I feel confident. I’m going to try to kind of keep it going.”

Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk upset No. 8 Maria Sakkari from a bagel 0-6, 7-5, 6-2. The 21-year-old Kostyuk was down 7-0 to start the match but after a rain delay at 2-all in the second, railroaded the Greek star for her first Top 10 win.

“It helped me to calm down even more,” Kostyuk said of the delay. “I had that extra time to put myself together, in a way. I don’t know, honestly, I don’t know how the match would turn out if there was no rain breaks.

“This one means a lot, because it was my 15th attempt to beat Top-10 player. Yeah, I had to do a check on my list. Very happy that that pressure is off my shoulders.”

Due to multiple rain delays and a late start to outer court play, two-time champ Petra Kvitova took serve power show indoors to Centre in the evening and held off 27-year-old Jasmine Paolini in three 6-4, 6-7(5-7), 6-1.

No. 10 Barbora Krejcikova got the better of Great Britain’s Heather Watson 6-2, 7-5. No. 13 seed Beatriz Haddad Maia moved past Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva 3-6, 6-0, 6-4. Former semifinalist Jelena Ostapenko eased past Belgium’s Greet Minnen 6-1, 6-2. The 25th-seeded Madison Keys enjoyed a comfortable 6-0, 6-3 victory over Sonay Kartal to earn her 6th straight win.

Teen Mirra Andreeva won a thriller over Xiyu Wang of China 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 in her Wimbledon debut. And No. 11 Daria Kasatkina opened Centre Court with an easy victory over (Jodie Burrage 6-0, 6-2.

On Thursday in second round play, defending champion Elena Rybakina tests Alize Cornet. Rybakina is ahead of Cornet 2-0 in their tour-level meeting but they haven’t met in three years.

No. 4 Jessica Pegula takes Cristina Bucsa, No. 5 Caroline Garcia will battle former US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez, Krejcikova returns to face Andreeva.
