Packers Aaron Rodgers decision just got way too personal

The Packers aren’t just ready to move on from Aaron Rodgers, according to a GB insider, they’re “disgusted” with the quarterback.

Will Aaron Rodgers be back with the Packers in 2023? If you believe longtime Packers reporter Bob McGinn’s read on the situation, the answer is a big fat no.

It’s not just that Green Bay is looking to move on from their quarterback. Things have gotten more personal than that.

“They’re disgusted with him and they’re done with him and they’re moving on,” McGinn said on the Go Long Pod.

Everyone from Packers CEO Mark Murphy, GM Brian Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur are in agreement on that sentiment, according to McGinn, frustrated with Rodgers’ commitment level to playing at a high level in 2022.

The Packers are reportedly “disgusted” with Aaron Rodgers

The strength of that description just goes to show how far the relationship between Rodgers and the Packers has devolved.

Threats of retirement or a trade request have dominated offseason storylines in Green Bay following reports of frustration over draft picks and team management. Rodgers’ behavior at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic caused plenty of embarrassment.

Now it looks like both sides have simply had enough of each other.

It’s an ugly turn of events for yet another legendary Packers quarterback. And again, Green Bay is making it clear they are ready to turn to the backup quarterback rather than put up with the antics of the former starter any longer.

McGinn said the Packers are all-in on Jordan Love, who they believe to be “Rodgers 2.0.”

It’ll take more convincing for Packers fans and the general NFL audience to buy that one. But doubling down on Love’s potential is another sure sign that the relationship with Rodgers isn’t going to be repaired.

Green Bay is going to see what they have in Love while trying to hold onto as many offensive weapons as possible. And Rodgers is going to have a chance to strike out on his own, though he may not have suitors throwing themselves at his feet this time.
