Longtime friends and sometimes co-stars Robert De Niro and Al Pacino will soon both be raising newborn children. Just weeks ago, De Niro revealed he'd had his seventh baby. Named Gia, the baby was born on April 6. The news got a lot of attention given that the legendary actor is 79 years old, making the announcement a bit unexpected. But it wouldn't be long for De Niro to lose his newfound status as Hollywood's oldest dad.

This week, it was revealed that Pacino is also expecting his fourth child, as girlfriend Noor Alfallah is eight months pregnant. As with De Niro, the pregnancy news has been generating a lot of chatter online, given the odd timing of the 83-year-old announcing the pregnancy just weeks after De Niro's announcement. For his part, De Niro is offering some support to Pacino, having nothing but kind thing to say about his buddy similarly fathering a new child in his golden years.

"What a guy," De Niro told People. "Go Al, God bless him."

Word is Pacino was taken by surprise with the news that he's going to be a father again. Per TMZ, it was reported that he was so convinced he was unable to father any more children that he even asked for a DNA test. Reportedly, Alfallah obliged, and the results confirm that Pacino is indeed the father of the unborn child. That might be the answer to the question that some on social media have been asking, which is why Pacino "chose" to have a child at the age of 83.

It should help that Pacino isn't going through this alone, as he can always reach out to De Niro for advice with the two sharing this experience of becoming a new father late in life. The actors have been friends for a very long time, even before the two united to co-star in The Godfather Part II.

"Well, when we met, I think I was in my mid-20s," De Niro told Pacino in a joint interview with GQ in 2019. "And you were maybe a couple years older than me. And that was about 50 years ago."

On his memories of first meeting De Niro, Pacino responded, "I remember the meeting very clearly. Unbelievably, I saw this guy, I thought, Wow, he’s got such charisma. He wasn’t doing anything. He was just walking. Remember? You know, he was Bob. But you felt something from him."

The friends would also sometime be co-stars as well. Decades after the actors appeared in The Godfather Part II in 1974, they would again be co-stars for Michael Mann's acclaimed action movie Heat in 1995. The two would later reunite in 2008 for the movie Righteous Kill. More recently, Martin Scorsese would get Pacino and De Niro back together again in 2019 for the Netflix movie The Irishman.
